An essential component in the building of a chain link fence, tension bands are used in conjunction with tension bars (sold separately) to stretch fence fabric and provide the rigidity needed of a barrier. Attach these bands to your terminal posts -- end posts, corner posts, gate posts -- by sliding them over and down each individual post. After spacing the bands apart evenly, secure them in place with a 5/16" x 1-1/4" bolt -- placed through the tangs of each band and tightened.

Once the tension bands are in place and secured, vertically slide one tension bar (again, sold separately) through all of the bands on each terminal post, simultaneously working it through the end "knuckles" of the chain link fabric. These bands are made of galvanized steel for extra rust resistance and may also be used for gate frames. Each pack comes with 10 bands.

  • Galvanized for increased corrosion resistance
  • For 3-1/2” diameter tubing
  • Nuts and bolts not included

How the part fits? A 3-1/2” tension band is designed to fit around a 3-1/2” terminal post.

Where is it installed? A 3-1/2” tension band is installed by sliding over the 3-1/2” terminal post once the post is set. Tension bands will be evenly placed on each terminal post.

How many do you need? You will need 3-1/2” tension bands for every stretch of fence. The amount of tension bands you will need per terminal post is 1 less than the height of the fence. For example, if you have a 4’ fence you will need (3) 3-1/2” Tension Bands per terminal post. There are two exceptions, if you have a 3’ or 3-1/2’ fence, you will need (3) 3-1/2” tension bands. For a full stretch of fence from terminal post to terminal post, you will need double the amount. Ex: For a stretch 4’ fence you will need (6) total 3-1/2” tension bands.
